Having had a textbook stolen from me, I faced having to replace it somehow and being a poor student, I almost fainted when looking at the pricetag at my on campus bookstore. So I looked online and found it through alibris at a fraction of the price. Even with shipping costs, it was the quarter of the price I would have had to pay for it on campus. I ordered it on a Friday and the book arrived on a Tuesday or 11 days later. As they said it is in fine shape, you can not even see that it's supposedly used. My only complaint would be that when trying to order it, I couldn't get my order to go through until I realized I had to click the "copy my billing address to my shipping address" or maybe it was the other way around. Having ordered from Alibris many times, I am puzzled by the negative reviews posted here. Have never had any problem with shipping, delivery (quite prompt), or service. Alibris is the first place I go when looking for a book.

Great book. I am so glad I ordered it. I have been writing poetry for years and I finally understand how to turn my poems into songs. Smooth, easy transaction. Great opportunity for the novice songwriter.

Wow! What a great price. Total for book and shipping was less than half of other sellers. Book arrived in timely fashion in "like new" condition. Definitely a "look here first" seller.

Think twice before you place an order.You can not cancel your order.If the item doesn't worth the postage payment, you have to admit an unwanted item. They get the money immediately after an order placed, long before the shippment.And you will have paid the money even not knowing when to get the item.

If ever a site screamed out "Buyer Beware", Alibris is it. This was perhaps the worst online buying experience I've had. The site offers free shipping for orders of in stock items totaling $49 or more. This offer comes up repeatedly, never with a qualification. I sent in an order exceeding $49, and was charged shipping that totaled more than 70% of the price of the books. Turns out that they won't honor the offer (despite the order form indicating they would at the time I submitted it), for books shipped to Canada. They have a condition buried on a separate page requiring a U.S. delivery address, but there is NOTHING on the ORDER FORM to indicate that certain exclusions would apply. I tried to cancel my order within TWO MINUTES of submitting it and learning that they were charging me huge shipping fees, and they refused to cancel it despite their misrepresentation on the offer. Further, their personal satisfaction guarantee states: "If you are dissatisfied for any reason, return your purchase within 30 days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price. We'll also refund shipping costs if the return was a result of our error." Yet they are refusing to honor that as well. They won't respond to the points I've made in my emails and appear to have stopped responding to me at all. I am disputing the charges on my credit card and will find out how that goes, but I will never order anything from this site again. Full Review

Their system adamantly refuses to authorise my perfectly valid credit card details - I have bought from other used book sites such as Abebooks using exactly the same card details. My first email to their customer "services" about this problem got a useless robot-generated reply. Further emails (several) to customer services and to their "President and CEO" produced no response whatever. In summary, their system doesn't work, nor do their staff if indeed they have any. Since they only accept credit card payment I can't get round the problem (though I shouldn't anyway have to) by other payment means so just can'y buy from them. Pretty website graphics are no substitute for a system that works and an organisation that responds to complaints and problems. The worst internet merchant experience I've had, by far. Full Review

Pages were brown, pen and pencil marks as well as stains on many pages. There were Gouges and some shredding of the hardcover. I should have paid 1/4 what I paid for this book. I have the book ready to return but fear I will never see the money again. I have been mislead and deceived. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend ever using this company. Awful site. Every time I attempted to complete the order I kept getting a message that the site was experiencing problems, to check again later. However, I found out that my credit card was being charged each time. They charged me over $200 for a $41 order. When I attempted to contact them, I just got an email saying that their policy was to place a "hold" on the card, that it wasn't an actual charge. Mastercard assured me that it was an actual charge each time.There is no phone number on site for customer contact, the number I got from Mastercard is just an automated maze. After my third disputing email I did not even get a response. STEER CLEAR OF THIS ONE! Full Review

I placed an order for 1 book 24th August and I got a message saying it had been shipped 25th August. 23rd September, I had not received my order and I contacted them. I was told it got lost in the mail and they would issue a refund, to allow between 7-14 days. 4th October, I contacted them and I was told again they were going to issue a refund. What ? I thought it had been issued a week before. 18th October and I don't have the refund. I am disputing charges with my credit card company and I filed a complaint with BBB in Reno, they have quite a record there already. Checking on them, I have read horror stories about them in many places. A company to avoid. Full Review

The prices they list for the books are great, but they don't actually have the books: recently I placed two orders with them through Half.com, and they were unable to fulfill either order: two books in less than a week (the second I hesitantly ordered, but I had gotten a notice that one had just been listed within the price range I requested). I love their magazine ads and I believe I bought a book or two from them in the past through Half.com, but they have not updated their inventory list in some time. Full Review

Just like all the other reviewer's, I ordered with thede guy's on 6/23/05, I was told that my book would arrive by 7/4/05, here it is 7/7/05 and I have not received my order. They refuse to issue a refund, stating that I will have to wait for a month. Hopefully when the 24th comes I don't have a proble getting my money back, but from the other review I foresee that I will. Customer Service is completely useless. Why didn't I read these review's before ordering???

The guys didn't send me the book I ordered. It is not possible to reach them because they have a message on their phone with thousands of options. When you finaly get to the end and request to contact you, they never do. Easy - take your money and don't send you the book. Very dissapointed. Please, don't use them (just a warning) - you'll lose your money for nothing.

Returned a book to them, heard absolutely nothing. Sent them 4 emails in which they responded with the same automated response to all 4. Called the 510 number, kept getting switched back to the same menu no one ever answered the call. Had to go through a dispute with my CC company. Needless to say I will never deal with them again. Abes in much better.

Stay away from this seller!!! Book I ordered for school and paid "expedited shipping" for has not arrived two weeks after it was supposedly shipped. Post office suspects they did not ship it when they said they did. Alibris responded by saying it could take 30 days. 30 days is "expedited shipping"!!! Not sure what I paid for.

I have never experienced such poor customer service in almost a decade of web-shopping. I would not order from this company again. You're better off ordering from abe.com - and then nothing listed as an Alibris product. Customer service at Alibris is non-responsive. I had to contact my credit card company and stop payment.

I ordered The Classical Guitar (Frederick Noad classical guitar Anthology) and the order went through. A week later they send me an email saying it was unavailable. Of course they gave me refund, but that still isn't proper, even if they had to lose money to honor this purchase --they could have found this book for me.

Shipped the wrong book. Upon contacting them, no response. Returned the book - no refund. Impossible to contact customer service - they will take you money but if your order gets messesd up - good luck. Stay away and use reputable sites like Amazon and Half.com that actually have customer site.

I ordered a book on school law in an edition that was published in 1997. I received a 1980 edition. I opened the book when my class began a few weeks later only to find a useless out of date copy of laws that were 25 years out of existance. Alibris then told me it was too late to get a refund.

Their customer servioce is non-existent. I wrote 7 emails to tell them that the shipping address they showed in my confirmation was incorrect. They did not respond and my book was delivered to the wrong address. I will never order from them again!

I am so sorry I ordered a book from this website. I ordered a book july 15th, here it is aug 15 and still have not received it. you cannot get a speaking person on the phone. how can a book take take so long. very dissappointed.

Don't order from them. They try to overcharge you on shipping and handling. They also don't have the book they say they have. A terrible merchant.
