    Not the Whole Story
This is a travesty! The complete novel is a masterpiece and moved Turgenev to write to a friend that after reading 'Polikushka' he "marvelled at the strength of his [Tolstoy's] huge talent. But he has used up too much material, and it is a pity he drowned the son. It makes it too terrible. But there are pages that are truly wonderful. It makes a cold shudder run down even my back, and you know my back has grown thick and course. He is a master, a master!" If anyone has a link to the whole thing I would love to hear from you. I've had no luck in bookstores or on-line.
